Bobcat Day is Texas State’s premier open house event for prospective students to come visit and see what makes Texas State so special. Prospective students and guests will be able to explore campus, and receive information about academics, financial aid, housing and more. The University Ambassadors help lead the charge of the Day by providing directional assistance, giving tours, and answering questions.
Once a student has completed 75 hours of course work, they are eligible to order an Official Texas State Class ring. The Alumni Association holds a celebration each fall and spring semester for students to celebrate their accomplishments and participate in the tradition of dipping their new rings into a fountain of San Marcos River Water. As University Ambassadors, we help by providing assistance at the event and celebrating each ring participant's accomplishments!
University Ambassadors help give Large Group Tours, typically Monday-Friday at 10am, 1pm, and 3pm. All Tours start at the Welcome Center. During your tour, you will show prospective students the heart of campus, share your personal experiences and provide general information about the university.
Trade Up is an event that started in 2005 to build pride in Texas State students. The Alumni Association saw a lot of college t-shirts on campus, but not a lot of Texas State t-shirts, so Trade Up was born. To participate in Trade Up, students must trade in an old college or university t-shirt for a limited edition Texas State t-shirt. Shirts are also offered for a $5 donation to student scholarships. All donated T-Shirts are given to Net Impact, who takes the shirts to communities in need.
The Gold Book is the Alumni Association’s pride and traditions program. It is currently a mobile app available for download. Students participate by completing traditions in the Gold Book – all they have to do is follow the instructions and take a picture at the specified location. As students complete traditions, they can win prizes. The grand prize is a chance to win a free official Texas State class ring!
Step Up for State
Step Up For State is an online fundraising event to support mission-critical projects and funds – “1899 Minutes of Giving”. It is also known as Texas State’s annual “day of giving”. The inaugural event took place September 21st-22nd for 1899 minutes. We had booths on campus the both days to engage Texas State students, faculty, and staff with the campaign and get their help to spread the word.
